US Study – Organic Agriculture more beneficial than ever

Organic agriculture v’s conventional agriculture. This has been the source of debate many times over the past few years. A research review from Washington State University has come to the conclusion that organic agriculture will be an essential resource in facing future challenges particularly climate change. The study drew from over 40 years of research into the differences between organic and conventional farming. The results, which looked at several factors of sustainability, showed that the gap between yields of the two systems is closing and organic crops are more resilient to changing weather patterns brought on by climate change.

The review study, is featured as the cover story for the February issue of the journal Nature Plants. It is the first to compare organic and conventional agriculture across the four goals of sustainability identified by the National Academy of Sciences: productivity, economics, environment, and social wellbeing.
